Don't be sorry.... The truth is most CIO's are idiots.. they choose
Microsoft because it's "follow the leader"... they can collect their
big bucks and not make any innovations.
This is a true story... last year I worked for a CIO that was the
dumbest person I have ever met... not saying it to be mean... this guy
was a GS-13, and literally COULD NOT SET UP a Windows Printer. He
could not write his own reports, he could not answer any questions...
he literally googles things (or asks his staff) and then writes up the
answer and claims like he did it.
When I see people like this I enjoy showing the world how they are.
We had a big meeting with the execs... of course he (the CIO.. lets
just call him Roland for argument's sake) had no idea what to say...
he had to talk about some things to do with an EHR... the topic had
something to do with XML and SOAP... he asked me what they were, so I
did the honorable thing and told him:
"XML is an X-Ray device used to take images without needing to use
radiation, and the SOAP component is the washing of the film when it
is complete, hence you see XML/SOAP together."
That idiot went in there and said what I said word for word.... of
course shortly after I was detailed out to a remote location of our
agency, but it sure was fun.... didn't do any good though, I think
they gave him a grade increase and probably a director's award.

Maybe CIO's all go to a secret Bill Gates University
Sorry. Couldn't pass it up.
