Title: Re: CAC reader and software HELP
Bob:
What works for us here at AFRL is the SCM331 USB reader that our available from our “Help” Desk. However, they needed to have their firmware updated via a PC (or now my MacBook running SDC) since they were all non-CCID enabled (firmware v1.4). The latest firmware revision is v5.22. As for software, it is all built-in to Tiger so you do not needed any. You will need to use Apple’s Keychain Access to install your CAC certs and any newer DoD certs that you may have. Instructions for setting up CAC on Mac are outlined nicely in Naval Postgraduate School Technical Report NPS-CS-06-009, “CAC on a MAC: Setting up a DOD Common Access Card Reader on the Macintosh OS X Operating System”. I don’t have the download link handy, but it is in previous posting to this list.
