I know the IA guys in the Army CIO G6 shop were using the free, open
source http://www.nessus.org/ as one of their tools. Nessus supports
OS X.
There are lots of ways to do patch/image management. Here is a sample:
JamfSoftware - Casper http://www.jamfsoftware.com/products/
casper4.php (I am especially impressed with Casper)
Filewave - http://www.filewave.com/products/fw_overview.html
LANrev - http://www.lanrev.com/product/index.shtml
Apple’s NetBoot & Network Install - www.apple.com/server/macosx/
netbootnetworkinstall.html
Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) - www.apple.com/remotedesktop
Mike Bombich’s NetRestore - www.bombich.com
Faronics' Deep Freeze - www.faronics.com/html/deepfreeze.asp
radmind - rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/radmind
