Here is the definition of the CC problem. Normal iTunesU podcasts will not run captioning. In order for a podcast to show captioning, an enhanced podcast (.M4A or .M4B) must be created. The enhanced podcast has the captioning embedded into the file. Enhanced podcasts are not supported on all platforms. Some community colleges are currently creating these enhanced podcasts using Camtasia Studio, but it is a very labor intensive process. If iTunes had the ability to use a .smil file and both the video file and the Qt.text file could be downloaded and played together and iTunes would have CC without any further work.
