Title: Vpn access via CAC-enabled Mac
Hello All,
I’m the end user at a DoD facility – thus my access to my Mac is restricted to signing on with a CAC card (AdmitMAC software using GEMPLUS GXP3 CAC card with a Sun SCR331 reader). I need to be able to access my computer while traveling and away from my worksite, but thus far have been told that because of required CAC card access that my computer cannot be connected to the internet away from my facility via a VPN client (for example, from my home through a vpn connection). What I fail to understand is WHY — based on what I’m reading on this list, it seems that this shouldn’t be an issue; can someone explain to me how this can be done? Also, why do I have to be connected to the internet to use the CAC card? The computer won’t register my pin number/legitimate access unless I am connected to the internet.
Thank you for any assistance or feedback that you can provide.
Gratefully,
Rebecca
