All,
I have a 10.4.X server machine that I need to secure. Security
requires at least min 1 Upper Case letter AND min 1 lower case
letter AND min 1 number with a min of 8 characters.
ie. Security1 is allowed but security1 is not (according to our
policy)....however on OSX either would be allowed.
I can't find how to enforce this password policy. (I can only set
min 1 letter (either Upper Case OR lower case) and min 1
number...haven't even gotten to dictionary search requirements.
Does anybody now to set policies beyond what is in pwpolicy? Or
how to extend it? Any 3rd party replacements?
I gather you have confirmed manually that:
pwpolicy -n /NetInfo/DefaultLocalNode -setglobalpolicy
requiresMixedCase=1
does not work. I know that something didn't work on stand-alone
machines, but my understanding was that if you were is a server
environment you could configure things more tightly.
Are you required to have the entire password policy automatically
enforced by the system software?
I raised this issue more then a year ago and still nothing has changed.
