The card is only used to wrap a bulk symmetric encryption key.
There's no way you'd ever be able to use asymmetric encryption to
protect an entire drive--it's just too damn slow.
So after spinning up you should be able to remove the card, and keep
it running until power down. We'll see when it ships.
