- Thread-topic: Shipping OS builds
I saw this KB article from Apple:
Learn which versions of Mac OS X ship with Intel-based Macs. Important: Do
not use a Mac OS version earlier than the one included with the computer.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303315
It merits mentioning that current 2.6 GHz Macbook Pros are shipping with
Leopard. NASA has yet to bless it and there are multiple issues with using
Leopard now. Lack of support for our PIV cards with our readers for one
thing. Our supercomputing center is shelving new acquisitions because they
can't put Tiger on these laptops. We (my group) are simply putting our Santa
Rosa chip build from 3 months ago on these Macbook Pros. So far this seems
fine but obviously it's the opposite of what Apple states above. Obviously
there is currently no way to deploy a Macbook Air because it won't run
Tiger.
Opinions?
note: Cross posted to NASA specific lists
