Folks,
I just had the need for the first time to use my AppleCare premium
support to fix a server issue I was having, and it was a big waste of
time. Why because they can only fix problems from the GUI, thats right
if you go into single user mode they cannot help you. They ask very
suspiciously why were you in single user mode. If you cannot get into
the GUI their response is sorry rebuild. If I need help from the
command line I can put in an Apple Select support ticket for $695.00
thats right folks apple doesn't like people tinkering or fixing things
from the command line. They asked me why I wasn't at 10.5.4, and I
told them I was about to restart to get there when my machine hung.
Also when you try to describe said issue and what symptoms you see
such as grey background grey apple with spinning gear you have to tell
them multiple times. So people be aware that premium support is not
what you might think premium support is supposed to be and their help
is at a premium.
