Sorry, different issue. I was talking about the BootCamp update, not
the general Apple software update. I found this on Apple's website,

You aren't the only one having the problems.
Have you tried uninstalling Apple software update for Windows, then
reinstalling with the latest version? I started looking for the
updater but haven't found it on Apple's website yet. You might need
to uninstall iTunes, Safari, Quicktime, whatever Apple software you
installed, then slowly start installing them again to get ASUW.

I am still at SP2. I guess I could be managed up to SP3, any day.

It sounds like you might have been updated to SP3 before running the
Apple BootCamp update 2.1. I did the same thing and am getting the same
results. I've checked the web and there doesn't appear to be any way to
apply this update after XP has been updated to SP3. My managed BootCamp
PC was automatically updated to SP3 before I could run the Apple updater
so I was stuck. I submitted a forum question to Apple but nobody ever
responded to it. Hopefully, Apple will come out with a post-SP3
installed version.

I am running Apple Software for Windows on a Dual Intel Mac Pro. Windows
XP SP2.
Apple Software Update tells me, when I try to install ASUW ver. 2.1:
"Apple Software Update for Windows" has an invalid signature. It will
not be installed.
When I choose the download only option, I am told:
"Apple Software Update for Windows" has an invalid signature. The
download has been removed.
Somehow, I don't believe I can complain about Windows in this case.
