Are you using a PPP-moderated connection? There appears to be a memory
leak in Leopard's pppd (10.5.3 and later) that eventually exhausts the
sendQ buffer but doesn't affect the PPP control channel. This causes IP
applications to die but pppd itself doesn't.
Yes, I logged a bug and no it hasn't been fixed yet.
