There was some additional "path" discussion in the thread prior to
your reply.
What I care about is that the additional path information is not
something that has to be educated out of a Windows AD administrator.
What we need is for Apple Mail to be able to pull the public key from
AD based upon the address(es) entered in the to, cc and bcc. Don't
care how it does it, it just has to be seemless and hassle free like
Windows and Outlook.

Is this fixed from the perspective of having SL automatically
discover the service or does this require some information from the
AD admins beyond their GUI windows "joining" process?
I have found that if the typical AD admin has a hard time
understanding that the Mac can bind to AD without the AD admin pre-
defining the object in AD. They usually don't step out of the
windows AD admin utility and have very little exposure to LDAP
proper.
There is no change in doing the AD bind for this, either on the
client or on the AD side. Machines bound under 10.5 and then
upgraded "should just work."
The certificates are already exposed in 10.5 and earlier. The
difference is that the Keychain now sees them.
