Jim,
A good KBase article to refer to:
Network requirements to host a Software Update server
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24836
Servers and ports
The synchronization module access the following URLs on port 80:
• http://swquery.apple.com/WebObjects/SoftwareUpdateServer
• http://swcdn.apple.com
The latter currently redirects to the Akamai network which hosts the
updates. Note that the redirected IP address may change.

All,
I am having issues with Apple Software update.
Our DOIM is blocking the site as shareware/freeware.
Several years ago when I went through this drill, the address was
swscan.apple.com,
so that's what I provided DOIM this time.
DOIM responded when they used an unblocked (windows) machine connected
to a commercial ISP and try that URL,
they get a 404 error.
Anyone know the IPs and/or URLs of the server(s) used by the Apple
Software Update control pane?
Thanks,
Jim
