[Fed-Talk] 10.5.7 and openssl

This is more of an informative e-mail but does raise a question:

I am very disturbed to find my updated copy of openssl being replaced by 0.9.7l from 28 sep 2006 once I upgrade my systems to 10.5.7 .

First, why does apple do this?
Second, is it really that hard to include an updated copy of software such as openssl in new OS updates, or not at all?

I may be rambling to deaf ears but this is just an annoyance that I luckily caught, and I am sure the average user will not. Everyone that reads this and has to obey by some form of DoD IAVA standards should be well aware of OS updates reverting software to old copies.
