I get the impression the audit developers would like to fix some of the things I’ve reported, but aren’t getting support from Apple. Doesn’t Apple realize that these kinds of problem are taking away potential sales in the government contracting community?
I believe Shawn mentioned some months ago that Apple was starting the Common Criteria evaluation process again (I think they last version certified was 10.3 (?)), and my guess is that they will be targeting Snow Leopard (I have zero inside knowledge on this).
With regards to auditing, you can follow progress on (and help if you want) via the TrustedBSD project's BSM section.
