I keep getting an error that the device is in use by someone else when I
try to access
the USB CAC reader- SCM SCR-331 in Windows XP Virtual Machine.
You have to kill pcscd on the host. ('sudo killall -TERM pcscd').
VirtualBox won't share USB devices, and doesn't muck with the host to
take control.
Note that this will prevent you from using the card on the host until
you restart pcscd ('sudo pcscd' or reboot).
