Please excuse if someone already answered this, The Card Reader says it's CCID compliant so it should work without any middleware on 10.5 - 10.6 since CCID is built in to the OS.

Please excuse the question if it has been already addressed but does this take any special drivers on the Mac or does it use the built in support (reference drivers)?
The produce literature mentions drivers for Windows which is a concern if Windows also has built in support for standards compliant cards (aka reference drivers)
