Only CAC middleware is built in, and only smartcard logon to local
accounts is natively supported. Logging on to an *Active Directory*
account requires third party software (ADmitMac for CAC or Centrify
DirectControl currently).
And so Shawn doesn't jump down my throat, that's AD logon with Kerberos
single-sign-on. :) It *is* possible to use the CAC to log on locally
using an account housed in AD, but this doesn't get you Kerberos
credentials which you need to actually do anything with AD resources.
So that's not all that useful, but it does exist, and is supported by
the OS out of the box.
