Smokescreen
It is not perfect as it is 1.0 but it converts Flash to _javascript_ + HTML5 for playback on any modern browser. (is also open source, open standards based!)
This can be looked at two ways: - authors can continue to author in Flash and now have a wider audience
- data owners can use Smokescreen to support legacy Flash as they move forward to standard HTML5
It does not make good business sense to author in both Flash and HTML5. It does make good business sense to author once and be compatible with as many end users & customers as possible. Every modern browser will support HTML5 if it does not do so already. Only a subset of those systems with modern browsers can or do support Flash. (only desktops & laptops)
Here are some very good demos of how SmokeScreen can break work done in Flash out of the confines of Flash into the open standards world.

A company called RipCode has announced a new clientless Flash video codec that allows the video to play on the iPad in a seamless fashion for the end user. The codec allows the video to play at a number of resolutions ranging from QVGA to 1080p. The RipCode V6 transcoding appliance also supports other file formats like QuickTime, MP4 Progressive Download, Apple’s MPEG-TS Adaptive Progressive Download for file-based and live content, Microsoft Smooth Streaming, and RTSP. This sort of transcoding could eliminate the issues with iPad and streaming video for many users.
