Apple hasn't been eating their own dog food for years. Their internal email runs on Sun with Sendmail and most of their enterprise stuff runs on Solaris. Using MobileMe or anything iTunes Store related, the last point that function touches a Mac is likely when the data leaves your desk.

Does anyone know whether Apple has replaced all the Xserves they had in their Cupertino data center with something else? Does anyone know what is going into the North Carolina data center? Where is Apple getting their own servers to run their "cloud."
