Have you tried building a new catalog file with Disk Warrior?
Also, are you running FileVault?

All,
Since the middle of last week I've been greeted with the Spinning
Pinwheel of Death when I try to log in to my MacBook Pro running Snow
Leopard. As soon as I enter a username and password, I get the pinwheel
and it never goes away. I've booted into Safe Mode with the same
results. Also booted into single user mode and ran fsck to fix any disk
errors, but that didn't help either. Booted off of the installation DVD
and ran Disk Utility, but again, no joy. Does anyone have any other
suggestions before I reinstall?
Thanks.
