Can anyone tell me what criteria under 10.5.8 determines if the files in
~/Lib/Prefs/ByHost use MAC address naming or Hardware GUID naming? I have
a login.hook that needs to write to those and it seems totally random. I
have not found a way to use the "defaults write" command without
constructing the file name by brute force. The defaults read command will
figure it out using -currentHost but write won¹t seem to in my testing.

Also, where I was originally using "-bool 0² it seems you must now use
³-bool NO² or ³-bool FALSE². The man page agrees with this current
behavior.
