First a disclaimer: despite my e-mail address my job has nothing to do with encryption certification. I know nothing more about the process than the man on the street.
That said, this is not news. I noticed it weeks ago. Here's the punchline:
"Apple's OS X Lion (v10.7) security services are now built on a newer 'Next Generation Cryptography' platform and does not use the CDSA/CSP module previously validated. Apple is re-validating the same CDSA/CSP module under OS X Lion to provide validation solely for third-party applications."
In other words, this is not an accreditation of the new, full disk encryption in Lion, which means that I still cannot requisition a new MacBook unless I install a third-party FDE product on it.
