Well that doesn’t surprise me then. I thought it might have just been me... but seems like everything from Apple lately is broke... I’ll add this as issue 509 or so (I lost count)...
iTunes Match - Broke - no playcount updates, mis-identifies music as well
BootCamp on Mac Pro with multiple drives (bug since 2008): still broke
Airplay mirroring on ML for Any mac 2009 or older - broke - oh wait, its a feature - apple disabled it. It can be hacked to work.
iCloud officially supported mail servers no long functioning - no status indicating so from apple
Bluetooth with MacPro and Bootcamp - loses connectivity between OS switches.
WebDAV config for *Lion Servers - doesn’t work as advertised
Apps purchased from Mac App Store that are pulled or the developer decides to bail cannot be restored from Mac App store
Apps purchased on an iOS device that have been pulled or the developer no longer has a developer account cannot be restored from an iCloud based backup
Intermittent iMessage failures
iCloud “docs in the cloud” require you to drag things out of icloud to open in other apps, and drag back to originating application to resync to iCloud
Mobile iWork apps still incompatible with Mac versions
Things used to “just work”... seems like those days may be gone...
I don't even think the older Windows had this many problems...
Unless Forstall lays an egg on stage September 12th this might be a farewell from me on the Apple side of things... but I will hold out just to make sure...
In closing, Thomas, if you are bouncing off of Comcast SMTP servers for me.com email, chances are the person you are sending email to may have it to go their junk/spam folder since the reverse DNS lookup for Comcast will differ from the SPF records of me.com - just a thought.

We were using them to send mail (at least I had a server profile set up and I think we were using me.com's smtp servers) for my wife's account for about the last year or so. The other day it stopped working and nothing I could do would get authentication to work. I ended up switching to use comcast's smtp servers.

Is there a trick to getting the icloud/me.com smtp server to work? I’ve followed the instructions as noted in the apple KB article, and I can retrieve from IMAP but am unable to send any email. If I open a terminal and connect to smtp.mail.me.com on port 587 it answers... but I cannot send anything.
Yes I am using SSL, authentication required, etc.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide,
Mike
