Agreed.
Plus, there are functional gaps in Apple's security package that needs
to be addressed. Apple's security gear has no Big Number
functionality, so myself and others have no choice but to go back to
the now deprecated OpenSSL [1]. In addition, I also use Elliptic
Curves and HMQV and FHMQV (fixes to the exponent leak in MQV), so I
need to do math over curves in addition to large integers.
It's not helpful at the moment, but you might find this helpful in the
future: I've begun tackling the "OpenSSL Framework" problem for Mac OS
X and iOS [2]. The goal is a FIPS capable framework [3] "that just
works" without aggravation. Steve Marquess of the OpenSSL Foundation
is onboard with the project, including a certain degree of Xcode
awareness in the OpenSSL sources.
