There are a lot of challenges were IPS, firewalls, antivirus, etc can be augmented by big data, analytics, and automation. Those days are here/coming.
We at Sourcefire have been saying for years that humans are too slow to react. There has to be a certain function in security that automation can play a role.
We think we have figured out what that role is, but only time will tell.
