Problem with this is on infrastructure access points where you have multiple
access points pointing back to the same network. The real attwifi is an
obvious example, but less obvious might be at a hotel or conference center.
They probably have multiple access points covering the property; do users
want to suddenly lose their connection and have to reselect as they move
around the hotel? Might not be too bad for intermittent data use, but it
would be a problem for someone in the middle of a Skype call.
I think the simplest fix would be for the access point to provide a
whitelist of MACs associated with the access points in that network when you
connect. But I assume there would need to be a revision of the wifi-related
specs (maybe there's a provision for an extension?) in order for this to
work.
