It works for anything using CDSA, certainly, which is why I asked. If downgrading to Snow Leopard is an option then we're not talking about FV2, anyway. But "Disk Utility" is a huge umbrella. Some of it is almost certainly covered (like disk images) and some definitely not (like Core Storage, a.k.a. FV2).
Getting FV2 FIPSed is a great request, but it's a different thing than the Snow Leopard module and moving forward with Lion.
