Don't forget as well that ANY iOS developer would have access to this
information if their App was using UDIDs and that the FBI and other
government agencies are iOS developers. This has been a non-story from
the start. There is nothing nefarious about having a collection of
UDIDs. You can't do anything with them except track Ads. UDIDs are not
PII.
I'm not really that concerned about the government having PII data about
me - they already do based on the fact that I pay my taxes, have a
clearance, have a driver's license, passport, etc... If you are really
concerned about the connection of UDIDs and tracking what about
FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and any other private companies.

Don't worry...judging from the comments on many of the stories with this
revelation, people think that the FBI is now doing "damage control", and
has coerced a private company to help it "cover up" the fact that it's
really "tracking" US citizens.
Never mind the fact that law enforcement agencies can already track, in
realtime, the location of any cell phone without a warrant as part of an
active investigation, or that UDIDs can't be used for the sort of
"tracking" people envision.
People have already chosen to believe what they want to believe, and
these facts won't dissuade them. Meanwhile, anyone with a clue who
actually suspected this came from a developer or developer partner to
begin with can go about our business.
