I didn't know that the iPad 3's were weren't locked to a carrier - that's good to know...

I agree....
I enjoy the same type of methods to educate sales people :)
On the flip side of that, when I move to ATT mobile share, I took my iPad 3 Verizon into ATT and said I wanted to add it to my plan... ATT said "cannot do it, Verizon and ATT are on different towers" (he meant to say different frequency bands I am sure, but he didt know it)...
I said, "Yes I can.... it won't use your LTE signal, but it WILL use you HSPA+."
He said it wouldn't... got a manager.. manager said it wouldn't, so I finally said "just give me a f****in microsim I'll show you".
They did.. along with a $36 activation fee (which is BS, I bought the iPad)... it took a few minutes, but there it was. ATT 4G in the upper left corner.
Disabled LTE on the iPad now the signal is almost immediate.
If a cell phone company really wants to wow customers, get people passionate about the technology.
All iPads are unlocked, and "the New iPad" (iPad 3) has so many radios it isnt funny. The only thing the Verizon model WON'T read is ATT LTE.

And would blow smoke if it helped sales. Even with mandatory corporate training, it appears that the same holds true.
