We use it at Argonne as well for our time keeping software. I know a lot of enterprises run off of Kronos, which has an annoying dependency on Java. Of course one way for orgs to mitigate risk is to make everyone use a terminal server for clocking in/out, that way you have a smaller Java footprint. However, employees may not be too happy with that solution.

At the USAF Research Lab Information Directorate, a cyber center of excellence, IMHO, the most important use of it is to do our time sheet input every two weeks. While I dislike vulnerabilities, I do like getting paid.

Does anyone still have Java enabled on their machines?
Java Vulnerability Could Affect a Billion Macs and PCs
http://gizmodo.com/5946551/java-vulnerability-could-affect-a-billion-macs-and-pcs
Every currently supported version of Java is vulnerable to a new exploit, according to Adam Gowdiak, a security expert who is known for finding Java exploits. That could include up to a billion computers, according to Oracle's instillation statistics.
This bug appears to be more serious, and looks like it affects far more users, including every single Mac running Snow Leopard or earlier, since Java came bundled in OS X in those versions.
