soagent can and has done it. There are a number of others as well.
The tendency is sometimes related to corrupted spotlight indexes or disk problems. When this starts to happen and it is not McAfee (which does it I think by design), I will typically ‘safe boot’ to fix the disk, priv fix, then rebuild safari indexes.
If it is McAfee, well, sorry. Long history of needing to buy another CPU for that product to run.
