"Webmail" systems typically support S/MIME through some form of mobile code (ActiveX and Java) for key operations. WebCrypto probably isn't mature enough (or implemented widely enough) to build a smart card enabled S/MIME capable webmail service, but I haven't been tracking closely so maybe I'm wrong.
I find myself reluctant to call a mobile code mail client "webmail," but I suppose I'm just splitting hairs (or showing my age :).
