FWIW: OpenSSL-3.x with either libp11 or pkcs11-provider does encryption using
smartcard. Tested on Sonoma 14.3.
This could be a temporary solution for those who need to decrypt emails or
files now, while Apple is working on the fix at its own pace.

I didn't test that, sorry; the VM I installed 14.4b2 had issues with the
keyboard and I had to boot it into safe mode to get it working, so it
was kind of squirly (this might have been an issue with Parallels).
