Hi,
I am seeking a way to disable browsing for SMB shares in Leopard.
Sorry for posting to two lists, but since this does relates to
filesystems & network I hope its acceptable.
In Tiger's DirectoryAccess.app on the Services tab there is a list
item entitled SMB/CIFS. When this item is unchecked/disabled then SMB
shares do not show up in the "Network" browsing window in the Finder.
However users can still open a connect to server window, enter a SMB
URL, and successfully connect to an SMB share. (Note, I thought SMB
shares were discovered via NetBios or something, so I'm not sure why
this item is listed as SMB, but whatever.)
I am seeking a similar way to disable browsing for SMB shares in
Leopard but haven't found a way.
I don't think that there is such a knob. Perhaps you could file an
enhancement request?

The DirectoryAccess.app in Leopard
does not have an item listed for SMB/CIFS. Any suggestions?
