That's basically correct.
It doesn't seem to matter whether you use subfunc 5 or 6 as the uuid
is always resolved to a name and the first four bytes in the reply
packet indicate which type it really is.
Indeed. I took a look at the AFP server source and, while these two
sub functions call through to different routines, the routines are
pretty much equivalent.
I've filed a bug against the documentation to get this clarified
<rdar://problem/6435819>.
