In situations like this I generally advise that you start testing lower down, with getattrlist and setattrlist. File Manager introduces all sorts of complexities and, while you'll have to deal with these complexities eventually, it's better to start with the simple stuff. Once you've isolated the issue to a single setattrlist, it's easy to peek at what the kernel's doing via DTrace.


Forgive my ignorance here - but if a filesystem does not implement getattrlist and setattrlist are these then synthesized onto the AppleDouble file?
