Hi James,

Thanks for your response. In my case I can limit the scope of my application to local filesystems.

In fact a way to do this exists. fslogger (http://osxbook.com/software/fslogger) use a (more?) low/private level approch: a clone of the fsevent. 
As say Singh "fslogger is a user-space program that subscribes to the same file system event notification mechanism as the Spotlight metadata server" and in this case the pid is provided by the kfs_event.

So, is the "Spotlight metadata server" can give me the application pid ? I don't found anything in the "Spotlight Metadata Attributes"... do I have to use the fslogger approch despite the status and the potentiel problems described by Singh ?
