Dear James
no you're not the only ones. Raskin also uses FSCopyObjectAsync to copy files and i grew some grey hair implementing it. We also opened a radar on the overwrite issue and it was marked as duplicate on 06-Aug-2010.
To state it here again: FSMoveObjectAsync and FSCopyObjectAsync replace Items at the destination with the same name using kFSFileOperationDefaultOptions.
The best thing to have would be NSURLDownload also working for directories, as it works for single file-URLs. Or any other mean of copying files asynchronously with the possibility to get notified about progress.

If we're sharing open bugs against FSCopyObject*, here are my
two pet bugs:
7102368 - FSCopyObjectSync ignores kFSFileOperationOverwrite
7185117 - FSCopyObjectSync returns invalid target FSRef on
an Airport Extreme volume
These were actually introduced in 10.6. I've written workarounds
for both, but I'm surprised they weren't caught before the 10.6
release or been addressed since. I can only imagine these bugs
would mess up a lot of software ... unless Steve and I are the
only ones using this API. :)
