This is an obscure request, but I'll throw it out there anyway.
It would be nice if the gpt application wasn't so fussy about merely showing GPT structures when a disk is in use.
mingisapsycho:~ chris$ sudo gpt show disk0
gpt show: unable to open device 'disk0': Resource busy
'diskutil list' can do this for in use disks, I'm not understanding why gpt can't. While gpt shows start-end sectors for each partition, diskutil doesn't which is why I'd like to be able to use gpt, rather than always having to download and install gdisk, which will get the information I want with an in-use disk.
Anyway, it seems like an unnecessary limitation to just show information. Heck, gdisk will even let me modify the GPT on an in-use disk.
Second gpt request is that it not cause the automounting of volumes. If I use 'gpt show disk1' for a disk not presently in use with no mounted volumes, but with one or more HFS+/X volumes, the show command results in those volumes being mounted. A subsequent show results in 'resource busy'. Double unnecessary behaviors.
