Why are MFSLives and EmptyFS hidden in the “legacy” downloads section?

QA1242 (Developing for VFS) points to MFSLives:

However, that link is dead. Even searching the entire Mac Dev site (https://developer.apple.com/legacy/library/search/?q=MFSLives) does not reveal that it’s now hidden under legacy downloads (thanks to Matt Bauer who included the link, otherwise I’d never have found it):

Why is that so? Has the VFS API changed significantly? And where do I find the latest documentation on VFS then, with the QA1242 appearing to be outdated - is the source code the only reference?

Or is this just an error and this sample code does not belong into the legacy section, after all?
