Metadata doesn't start indexing automatically

  • Subject: Metadata doesn't start indexing automatically

Hi,

I have a custom filesystem here that mounts well and that I can use. I’d like this filesystem’s files metadata to be indexed (for use with Spotlight, File Info panel in Finder and other metadata queries).

Most filesystems (HFS+, FAT, etc.) are automatically indexed as soon as they are mounted but not mine. If I turn on the indexing though, everything works. Using

sudo mdutil -i on /Volumes/Volname

I then have a perfectly indexed file system and it even reacts perfectly to all type of fsevents.

What properties should a filesystem exhibit for its metadata to automatically start indexing upon first mount? Should I declare something in the Info.plist of my Filesystem?

Thanks,
Charles
