After tests on OS X 10.3.5, I'm seeing this bug too.
I had a look at this DiskManagementTool tool and it looks like it can
does a bunch of things. A class-dump and a quick inspection of the
Frameworks resources seem to indicate that it can be used to:
- fix permissions: this was my first idea on what it's trying to do in
the package building process. Yet a simple test with a wrong
permissions on /Applications shows this is not the case. The
Hints.plist file is really interesting from a security point of view.
- deal with bom in a package
- do something with a BOM enumerator.
I'm wondering what's the real goal of calling DiskManagementTool (via a
NSTask) and if it's really doing something.
