Greetings!
I'm new to creating installation packages for OS X. So far, I've
created a package that successfully installs the latest version of our
application in "/Applications". We wanted to add a preflight script
(Applescript) which removed older versions and old aliases from every
user's desktop. We also wanted to add a postflight script that would
create new aliases (to the latest version) on every user's desktop.
I've tried setting the PackageMaker configuration to use both Admin
and Root authentication.
Everything works except for the alias removal and creation. I believe
the scripts fail due to insufficient permissions. Is there anyway
around this or, are we trying to circumvent major security mechanisms?
What does the log say when you log the error from the script?
