Subject: Low Rate of Compression in Package Maker
Hi Guys,
Since I have get into this, I like ask next.
It seems PM use simple ZIP algorithm.
The famous Windows *free* installer maker InnoSetup compress our files 2
times better!
PM produce 8-9MB archive
IS produce 4.6-5 Mb archives.
If I try compress our files using StuffIt then I also get about 4.5-4.6 MB.
So I wonder, if InnoSetup - free product - is able use some (LZA it seems)
algorithm to get so good compression, why Apple not use it also ?
It is really critical point, especially now,
when we need produce Universal Binary format.
Archive of our UB Valentina Studio is 28MB.
The Valentina Studio WIN archive -- only 6MB ....
When I see this, I say -- wow. :-)
