Not sure exactly what you mean by 'sudo /my/AppleScript'? The
Applescript is not wrapped in a shell script.
I suspect if it were, it would execute properly. I seem to recall
having worked around this issue by doing that before.

The postinstall executable (AppleScript, shell script, whatever) is
launched via a fork/exec from a UID 0 process.
I'm not sure about how an AppleScript typically executes. It's
possible that AppleScripts are always run through an interpreter
that strips some credentials.
Does 'sudo /your/AppleScript' work correctly?
