Either location should be fine. Honestly, I think /Library/Application Support/<YourApp> is a great idea, especially if you've got other stuff going in there anyway.

Subject: RE: documented way to find installation receipt? Is /Library/Preferences guaranteed ‘not to change’, i.e. when postflight runs, it puts the plist in /Library/Preferences, and the uninstaller can look in /Library/Preferences and everyone will be happy?
