Hi all,
So now that I have created a distribution, I wanted to see if I understand
what to do with the PackageMaker project and 'distribution.dist' file.
I used PackageMaker to create a project that makes the distribution
package. I'm assuming that I need to check in, as a binary fine, the
pmproj file used by PackageMaker.
I also have the distribution (mpkg directory) created with PackageMaker.
It looks like the only interesting thing in it is the 'distribution.dist'
file. The rest are the sub-packages and resources. Basically, the
purpose of PackageMaker was to generate the 'distribution.dist' file and
to copy over the sub-projects and resources.
Now I need to add some package dependency scripting to the distribution...
I need to modify 'distribution.dist' so the sub-packages are selected
correctly.
I do not see any way for me to add this dependency checking with
PackageMaker. Is this correct? If so, then it's up to me to modify
'distribution.dist' by hand, which means that the PackageMaker project has
fulfilled it's purpose?
When I get done with all of this, I need to be able to build the
sub-packages and distribution with a shell script. The way this is
looking, I will need to build the sub-packages with packagemaker, then
build the distribution by copying in the the sub-projects, resources, and
customized 'distribution.dist' file.
Have I overlooked something or is this the right way to go?
Kevin Hoyt
