We're working on that, but we're running into other problems. The fact
that the .pmproj files are saved by default as binary1 format creates a
problem for their use in our source control environment where we'd
prefer to store them as text xml1 format for the purposes of merging,
diffing, etc... We also build many similar product installers (many
which contain different sets of nested meta-packages and packages) from
a base set of plist files, substituting product specific names, info,
etc... for placeholder strings in the plist files after building given
packages. We have yet to migrate this process to use .pmproj files as
the primary input. One additional feature requests while we're at it: I
would like to have the -p <package path> be optional for -proj builds
and have the ability to define the default output package path in the
.pmproj itself.

Hello,
There is no way to control the order via the CLI. I'll add an
enhancement request.
You can, however, configure your metapackage as a .pmproj document
using the GUI and then build it using the -proj flag.
