exception with packagemaker and mpkg

Running packagemaker from the command line on a distribution package that builds the mpkg fine from the GUI throws an exception from the command line:  *** Uncaught exception: <NSInvalidArgumentException> *** -[NSPlaceholderMutableString initWithString:]: nil argument.

Any ideas?
